I did not take these photos. All credit goes to my partner in crime/bird spotter/resident nature expert. While I was out, she saw this Cooper's Hawk frolicking in our birdbath, found my camera, figured out which button I use for focusing (it's not intuitive), and reeled off this lovely series. Maybe it's time to set her up with her own gear?!

This Green Heron was poised to punish any minnow that went by and I was poised to photograph the action but this is as close as we got to anything dynamic happening.

What a fun surprise it was that our friend, Ginette, and her husband were on our boat tour to Witless Bay.

Most of the two hour drive to Cape St. Mary's Ecological Reserve was in brilliant sunshine. But for the last few kilometers we were enshrouded in thick fog with minimal visibility. I snapped a few photos of the Northern Gannets anyway and, miraculously, I was able to clean them up on my computer. I included one unedited image to give a sense of the before and after.

 

Bread and Cheese Country Inn in Bay Bulls is where we'll spend our final two nights in Newfoundland. Our room (top floor, left) faces the ocean and there's a little trail from the inn to the 'beach'.
