Here's a sequence of an American Robin feeding its chick in our backyard. It starts off with a huge (like gagging) glob of caterpillars that she puts in the young one's mouth then quickly pulls it out with some of the caterpillars gone. This is repeated two more times until finally that writhing mass of protein is completely deposited in the baby's gullet. No wonder those little robins get big so quickly.
