August 1: Moraine Lake. An early 3:15 a.m. alarm had us on the road at 3:30 and parked at the lake by 4. Napped a bit and had breakfast in the van waiting for some light to appear. As the parking lot started to fill up at 5, we made our way to our pre-selected spot. We were standing on a large rock pile left when the glacier that gouged out the lake retreated. It was a chilly 11C but the early morning, long wait and cool temperature was worth the view when daylight broke.
